日本:東京 Tokyo Shimmy

So my computer now refuses to let me type using hirigana, katakana, and kanji (Edit: this is no longer the case). Also, A piece of popcorn is stuck in my throat. Things seem to be against me.

I know I promised otherwise and I know you didn't believe a word of it.  You were correct, my laziness got the better of me once again. Now we have a lot of catching up to do. Today's mission: a quick report of the first Tokyo adventure, which occurred a few weekends ago.

Now, Tokyo is a large place with way too much to see. This trip concerned western Tokyo, pretty much Harajuku and Shibuya. I don't have too many comments to make, so this will be mostly some pictures.

Harajuku Bridge

Heading into Meiji Jingu grounds. This was the largest Torii I had ever seen...

Wedding procession!

Cute kids.

Ema galore!

Takeshita Dori in Harajuku. The youths like to shop here.

Look at all those youths.

I found the SEX POT Revenge store. Nearby I also found a super cute crepe stand where a lady was eating a crepe in front of her Pomeranian who definitely wanted some.

Smile Camp!  For all you grouches!
(-_-; )

Yup. They were handing out promotional Visual Kei CDs. My youth returning to me!

After all the Harajuku area business, we grabbed some beers at the Harajuku Taproom (by Baird Beer). I had some hand-pumped beer, which I enjoyed.  It's less carbonated, kinda smooth. Not bad. Also, my camera died at this point (you'll see that this is a reoccurring problem on these adventures. T_T )

We hit Shibuya afterwards. I got to experience the Intersection of Insanity! And it lives up to the name I just bestowed upon it. It was insane. For a person that always manages to be in someone's way while standing in a secluded corner, trying to get across an intersection with no sense of organization and hundreds of people is perhaps the most difficult task in the world. How the hell are there always hundreds of people ready to cross the street there? Has there ever been a time when like one person needed to cross? That would be a sight, no?

Shibuya Shibuya Shibuya. I saw Hachiko. And I went in Shibuya 109. I actually got a 1000 yen gift certificate from the tourism peeps for filling out a survey, as well as a mini Shibuya 109 tower phone charm ha. Hilarious. Lastly we checked out the Tokyu Food Show and then got some foods (yakisoba, kariage, bibimbap, etc.) Delicious.

I'll put the photos up on FB eventually. There were a couple of other things mixed in the day, like staring at turtles for too long and purchasing a sweatshirt with a mustached cat telling me to take it easy. Oh and a museum of national treasure associated with Emperor Meiji and his wife. But the mustachioed cat. Priorities.
